Wedding

So I just shot my first wedding on Saturday- more than nerve-wracking. Nonetheless, I was able to get some adorable shots of Courtney and Chuck since the weather held up!

Portraits

On one of the hottest days of the year, I decided to go to Schenley Park to take portraits of my friend Kiersten from Pitt...great idea. Still came out great though, even with the scolding temps.

I just started using a label for my photos so I actually get credit for them- smart thinking, eh?

Darfur Article

Darfur Rally and Memorial

One of the causes I dedicate a lot of my time to is the crisis in Darfur. Last October, I attended a rally in DC and just yesterday, I went to the capitol once again with the Pittsburgh Darfur Emergency Coalition for a rally and memorial. The ceremony was held in front of the White House and was attended by over 300 people, with 150 of those coming from Pittsburgh. Speakers included survivors of past genocides from Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda, and of course the current genocide in Sudan. Herman Snyder, an 89-year-old survivor of the Holocaust, also spoke to the crowd. This event was very inspirational and moving, and made all who attended want to fight even more for justice in Darfur.

Earth Day at Frick Park

Frick Park Environmental Center in Squirrel Hill hosted an Earth Day celebration on April 18th, four days before the national holiday (which some people forget). Mainly targeted at educating children on the environment and ways to treat it respectfully, the event included many different booths and activities such as planting flowers and trees, rock-climbing, music, food and more.Even Mayor Luke Ravenstahl stopped by to plant a tree as well as to talk to the public.

Tea Party Rally

Inspired by the 1773 Boston Tea Party, protesters gathered in all 50 states of the country to rally against President Obama's federal budget, which these protesters see as "socialism" and "big government". This was an interesting event for me to cover, to say the least and to say without harsh words. Let's just say, my backpack covered in Obama pins and buttons did not do me any good ;)
